This comprehensive Jordan Pass FAQ answers the most common questions travelers have before buying and using the Jordan Pass in 2026. From pricing to eligibility to what happens at the border – everything you need to know in one place.
General Questions
What is the Jordan Pass?
The Jordan Pass is an official tourist card issued by the Jordan Tourism Board. It combines your Jordanian entry visa fee waiver with prepaid admission to over 40 attractions across Jordan, including Petra, Wadi Rum, and Jerash. It must be purchased online before arrival.
Is the Jordan Pass worth buying?
For most visitors staying 3+ nights and planning to visit Petra, yes – the pass pays for itself with the visa waiver (~$56) and Petra entry (~$74) alone, totaling ~$130 separately vs. ~$70 for the Wanderer pass. The more sites you visit, the greater the savings.
What countries are eligible for the Jordan Pass?
The Jordan Pass is available to citizens of countries eligible for a Jordanian visa on arrival, including the USA, UK, all EU countries, Canada, Australia, Japan, and many others. Citizens requiring a pre-approved embassy visa (e.g., India, Pakistan) are not eligible.
How much does the Jordan Pass cost in 2026?
In 2026, the Jordan Pass costs approximately $70 (Wanderer – 1 Petra day), $80 (Explorer – 2 Petra days), or $99 (Insider – 3 Petra days). All include the visa fee waiver and 40+ attraction entries. See our Jordan Pass fee page for full details.
Purchase Questions
Where do I buy the Jordan Pass?
The official purchase portal is jordanpass.jo. Purchase takes about 10 minutes and requires your passport details and a credit/debit card. You’ll receive your pass by email as a PDF with a QR code.
Can I buy the Jordan Pass at the airport?
No. The Jordan Pass is an online-only product that must be purchased before you arrive in Jordan. There are no purchase counters at airports or border crossings.
How far in advance should I buy the Jordan Pass?
You can buy it up to 3 months in advance. Most travelers purchase 1-2 weeks before departure. The important thing is you must have it before landing in Jordan.
Can I buy a Jordan Pass for someone else?
You can process the application for someone else, but the pass must be in that person’s name and passport details. Each pass is non-transferable and tied to one specific passport number.
Visa Questions
Does the Jordan Pass replace the visa completely?
Not exactly – it waives the visa fee (~$56). You still go through the standard immigration process at the border, but instead of paying the fee, you present your Jordan Pass. Your passport gets stamped as normal.
What if I stay fewer than 3 nights – will I be charged the visa fee?
Yes. If you stay fewer than 3 nights, the ~$56 visa fee will be collected when you exit Jordan. The attraction entries remain valid regardless of stay length.
Can I use the Jordan Pass to enter via land borders?
Yes. The Jordan Pass is valid at all official Jordan entry points, including air borders (Amman, Aqaba airports), sea borders (Aqaba sea port), and land borders (King Hussein Bridge, Wadi Araba, Sheikh Hussein).
Attractions Questions
How many attractions does the Jordan Pass include?
Over 40 attraction sites across Jordan. These include Petra, Wadi Rum, Jerash, Ajloun Castle, Kerak Castle, Umm Qais, the Baptism Site, Madaba, the Desert Castles, and many more. See the full list on our included attractions page.
Does the Jordan Pass include Petra by Night?
No. Petra by Night (the Monday/Wednesday/Thursday evening show in the Siq) is a separate experience with a separate ticket (~JOD 17). It is not included in the Jordan Pass.
Does the Jordan Pass cover Wadi Rum tours?
The Jordan Pass includes entry to the Wadi Rum Protected Area. Jeep tours, camel rides, and overnight camping experiences are separate costs arranged with local operators. More details on our Jordan Pass Wadi Rum page.
Can I use the Jordan Pass multiple times at the same attraction?
No – each included site can only be visited once per pass (except Petra, which allows consecutive-day visits per your package). The QR code is scanned at each entry and tracks visits.
Validity Questions
How long is the Jordan Pass valid?
The pass has a 3-month window from purchase to activate it (first border entry). Once activated, you have 2 weeks (14 days) to visit all included attractions.
What happens if my Jordan Pass expires while I’m still in Jordan?
If the 2-week usage window expires, you’ll need to pay standard entrance fees for any further attraction visits. The visa portion is unaffected – standard visa rules continue to apply for your stay.
